BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Carnel Kerr collected a goal approximately 3 minutes into Saturday's Presidents' Athletic Conference postseason tournament match with Westminster, and it was enough to give Geneva College a 1-0 win.
At Reeves Field, Carmel collected his goal at 3:10, assisted by Darren Main, and it stood up for the Golden Tornadoes (5-2-3 PAC, 9-4-6 overall).
Coach Girish Thakar and Westminster (4-3-3, 9-6-3) were out-shot 11-7 (3-2 in shots on goal and 4-2 in corner kicks). Sophomore midfielder Brendan Callahan (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem High) and sophomore forward Connor Schmidt (Evans City, Pa./Seneca Valley High) each had 2 shots.
Senior goalkeeper Jad Jadalla (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield High) concluded his spectacular season by making 2 saves in 90 minutes, as did his Geneva goalkeeping counterpart, Gabriel Kemp.
Graduate student forwards Tyler Caterino (Monessen, Pa./Monessen High) and Marc Esqueda (San Bruno, Calif./Junipero Serra High), grad student midfielders Michael Roman (Norristown, Pa./Germantown Academy) and Zac Marzula (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny High), graduate student defender Noah Weiss (South Park, Pa./South Park High), along with senior forward Ivan Mojica (Santa Rosa, Calif./Elsie Allen High) and senior defender Jacob Shulock (Murrysville, Pa/Franklin Regional High) also saw their season end.
During the final six matches Westminster won 3 and the Titans tied another 2 before Saturday's setback.
