Volleyball: Titans Sweep the Competition to Close out the Bearcat Challenge

LATROBE, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team continued its excellent play by sweeping both opponents in final day of the Bearcat Challenge, hosted by Saint Vincent, on Saturday. 
 
Westminster improved to 5-0 on the season, including four-straight shutouts. Junior Kaylee Sciubba (Tarentum, PA / Deer Lakes) was named on the All-Tournament Team.
 
The Titans blanked their first opponent, Pitt-Greensburg (25-11, 25-7, 25-20). Sciubba led the charge with a match-high 12 kills, followed by senior Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) and sophomore Lauren Lampus (Sarver, PA / Freeport) with seven kills each. Also adding to the offensive attack were senior Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford), recording 14 assists, and sophomore Reanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Daniels), finishing with 11 assists. Sophomore Malia Duffy (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) and senior Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) led the defense with 15 and 12 digs, respectively. 
 
Westminster finished its night by shutting out Pitt-Bradford (25-21, 25-6, 25-15). Adelman led with 13 kills, followed by Steward and Sciubba with nine kills each. Kelly added to the onslaught with 21 assists and five aces. Locking it down on defense were Duffy and Lampus recording 18 and 10 digs, respectively. 
 
The Titans are back on the court on Friday, September 10 for a doubleheader when they travel to Erie, Pa. to take on Fredonia State for a 4 p.m. matchup and John Carroll at 6 p.m. at the Penn-State Behrend Invitational.
