NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College baseball team split with Chatham in a home doubleheader Friday, dropping game one, 8-2, and winning game two, 11-7.
In game one, Chatham (10-23, 9-17 PAC) scored two runs in the first and five in the fourth to lead 7-0 until the last inning. The Cougars tacked on their final run in the top of the seventh, and Westminster (13-19, 9-16 PAC) got some offensive momentum going in the bottom of the seventh when senior
Vincent Morelli (Ambridge, PA / Ambridge Area)hit a two-run double to send juniors
Brandon Cooper (Oakdale, PA / West Allegheny) and
Seth Schrader (Fredonia, NY / Fredonia) home. The comeback fell short and Chatham took game one, 8-2.
Senior
Paul Midili (Spring Hill, FL / Bishop Mclaughlin Catholic) got the start on the mound for the Titans, pitching five innings, allowing nine hits and striking out two. Morelli, junior

Frank Cinicola (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley) each got a hit for the Titans.
Chatham's Austin Andonisio earned the win for the Cougars after pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts and allowing just five hits.
In game two, Chatham got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first, but junior
James Diamond (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area) hit an RBI-double to right field in the second to tie it back up. The Cougars retook the lead in the third after Caleb Lehman hit an RBI-triple to go up, 2-1. Junior
Matt Costello (Castle, PA / Union Area) sent junior
Sean Davis (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) home with an RBI-single to left field in the bottom of the third to tie the game back up at 2-2. Junior
Austin Webb (Wadsworth, OH / Wadsworth) followed that up with a two-RBI single to center field to bring in Cinicola and Costello and give the Titans their first lead of the game at 4-2. In the fifth, Webb hit another two-RBI single to score Cinicola and graduate student
Tyler Barnot (Pittsburgh, PA / Bethel Park). Junior
Ryan Jolin (Williamsport, PA / Williamsport Area) kept the momentum going with an RBI-single, and Davis followed that up with a two-run single to right field to put the Titans up 9-2. Cinicola grounded out to second base, sending Jolin home to score the Titans' 10
th run. Chatham finally answered Westminster's 8-0 run by scoring one run in the seventh, but Costello responded for the Titans with an RBI-single to center field in the bottom of the seventh to set the score at 11-3. The Cougars scored four runs in the last two innings to cut the deficit to 11-7.
First-year
Logan Exler (Verona, PA / Serra Catholic) earned his fourth win of the season for the Titans after pitching eight innings with three strikeouts. Webb led Westminster on offense with two hits and a game-high four RBIs.
The Titans will head to Pittsburgh, Pa. on Sunday, May 9 for their final doubleheader of the season against Chatham. Game one is set for 1 p.m.
