BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Westminster College baseball team defeated Geneva in back-to-back games in their first road sweep of the season Friday, winning game one, 4-2, and taking game two, 5-2.
 
In game one, Westminster (11-15, 7-13 PAC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead over Geneva (8-17, 5-15 PAC) when junior Austin Webb (Wadsworth, OH / Wadsworth) doubled down the right field line to send classmate Matt Costello (New Castle, PA / Union Area) home. Geneva responded in the second with a two-RBI single to put the Golden Tornadoes ahead, 2-1. The Titans tied it up in the sixth when first-year Logan Murgenovich (Aliquippa, PA / Central Valley) scored on an error. Junior Mike Grazier (Austintown, OH / Austintown Fitch) put Westminster back on top, 3-2, with a sac-fly to right field to bring in a run by senior Tyler Barnot (Pittsburgh, PA / Bethel Park). Barnot hit an RBI-single in the seventh to seal the deal for the Titans and put the final tally to 4-2. Junior Logan Minch (Grove City, PA / Grove City Area) got the start on the mound for Westminster, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing four hits and striking out two. Sophomore pitcher Frankie Manios (Warren, OH / Howland) earned his third win of the season, giving up one hit, zero runs and striking out one. Webb, Barnot and Grazier each contributed one RBI apiece for the Titans in the win.
 
 
In game two, the Titans struck first again when Webb singled up the middle to send junior Sean Davis (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) home in the third. Senior Frank Cinicola (Cranberry Township, PA / Seneca Valley) kept the momentum going with a two-RBI double to left field to put Westminster up 3-0. Geneva scored one run in the bottom of the third, but Westminster answered with an RBI-single by Grazier in the sixth to set the score at 4-1. Geneva scored their only other run of the game in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to 4-2. Cinicola hit an RBI-double in the seventh to send Murgenovich home for the final run of the game. First-year Logan Exler (Verona, PA / Serra Catholic) picked up his third win of the year after pitching the first seven innings, allowing five hits, two runs and striking out one. Junior Zach Zeis (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland) and Manios each pitched one inning, with Manios earning his first career save.
 
Cinicola led the Titans on offense in game two with a game-high three RBIs, tying his season high. Webb contributed a game-high three hits, and Murgenovich and Grazier tacked on two hits apiece.
 
Westminster will be playing Geneva again in a home doubleheader Saturday, April 24. Game one is set for 11 a.m.
