Men’s Lacrosse: Titans Score School-Record 29 Goals at Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Westminster men's lacrosse team broke a school record for most goals in a game in their 29-9 win at Franciscan on Saturday, their last non-conference contest.
 
The Titans had 14 different players score, led by first-year Payton Waight (Ithaca, NY / Ithaca) who tied a career-high with a game-high five goals (game-high six points total). Sophomore Rylan Darrenkamp (Birdsboro, PA / Daniel Boone) followed with a career-high four goals. Senior Shane Fisher (Palm Harbor, FL / East Lake) earned his first hat trick of the season. Also scoring multiple goals were senior Nick Trella (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area), sophomores Boyd Foster (Lincoln, RI / Lincoln), Ryan Greer (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley), Hamish Mathwin (Marion, Australia / Westminster), and Nick Hubner (Pittsburgh, PA / Plum), and first-year Jimmy Sentz (Catonsville, MD / Loyola Blakefield). The two-goals were a career-high for both Foster and Sentz.
 
Franciscan (0-6) was up early, 2-1, before Westminster (5-1) went on a 6-0 run, led by Waight with a pair of goals. The Barons scored the final two goals of the first quarter and Westminster led 7-4. It was all Titans in the second quarter, shutting out the Barons 8-0 and took a commanding 15-4 lead at halftime. Westminster led 21-8 after three and finished the game strong with seven unanswered goals.
 
Titan senior Romano Veneziano (Pittsburgh, PA / Pittsburgh Online Academy) corralled a game- and career-high 10 ground balls, to go along with a game- and career-high four caused turnovers. Sophomore Sean Fitzpatrick (Glen Dale, WV / John Marshall) and first-year Colin O'Malley (Pittsburgh, PA / North Allegheny) each had nine ground balls (career-high for Fitzpatrick). First-year goalie Bradley Green (Landisville, PA / Hempfield) earned his first collegiate win with 33:54 minutes of work, while collecting two saves.
 
Westminster, winners of five-straight, will now head into PAC play, starting with at Chatham on Wednesday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.
