ALFRED, N.Y. – The Westminster women's soccer team lost, 2-1, in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament on the road against Alfred University on Saturday.

Westminster was able to gain the early advantage when graduate student Jocelyn Gillette (Natrona Heights, PA / Highlands) found first-year Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) to blast the first goal of the game. As the first half continued, the Titans and Saxons were in a defensive battle as there were only seven shots combined. Westminster held a 1-0 lead at intermission.

As the second half kicked off Alfred (11-5-4), picked up the tempo as Katline Cartwright registered the Saxons' first goal off a dish from Jacey Palmgreen, tying the game at 1-1. At the 55:33 mark, Cartwright tallied another goal, giving Alfred a 2-1 lead. The Titans orchestrated scoring opportunities but could not find the back of the net.

Titan senior goalkeeper Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) recorded six saves in the complete-game effort.

Westminster registered ten shots, three of which were on-goal, along with three corner kicks.

The Titans finish with an overall record of 16-3-1 and a perfect conference record of 9-0 under 20th year head coach Girish Thakar.
