SAINT DAVIDS, Pa. - The Westminster College women's lacrosse team lost, 14-13, on the road in a non-conference matchup against Eastern University on Tuesday.
Westminster (1-5) scored first less than three minutes into the contest when senior
Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) scored to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. Eastern (3-1) answered with six consecutive goals. The Eagles led 7-3 at intermission. In the second half, the Titans scored five of the first six goals to knot the score up at 8-8 with 22:21 remaining. The game of runs continued as Eastern scored four unanswered to lead 12-8 with 17:42 left in regulation. The Titans proceeded to scored five-straight after that to claim their first lead of the contest at 13-12 with 3:03 remaining. Eastern scored just 30 seconds later to tie the game, and scored the deciding goal with just two seconds left on the clock to win the game.
Eastern narrowly out shot the Titans (36-35), while Westminster held the slight edge in ground balls (27-26). The Titans also bested Eastern in draw controls (15-13).
Braddock had a team-high eight points on seven goals and one assist to go along with a team-high 10 draw controls. First-year
Ava Krensky (Bethesda, MD / Walter Johnson) followed with three goals and won three draw controls. Junior
Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) tallied a pair of goals and a team-high five ground balls. Sophomore
Emma Bradley (South Fayette, PA / South Fayette) notched 10 saves in a complete-game effort.
Westminster is back in action on two days from now on Thursday on the road in a non-conference matchup against Stockton University at 3:30 p.m.
