Women’s Basketball: Titans Stay Hot with Win Over Tomcats

GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thiel College by a score of 77-36 on the road Wednesday evening for their fifth-consecutive victory.
 
Westminster (16-3, 9-1 PAC) jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead over Thiel (0-18, 0-9 PAC) in the first few minutes of the game. The Titans led 13-4 at the end of one. Westminster outscored the Tomcats 25-12 in the second quarter and led 38-16 at halftime. The Titans opened up the second half with a 7-0 run to take a 45-16 lead with 6:37 left in the third. The Titans ended the third quarter with a 60-25 lead and cruised to victory in the fourth.
 
Westminster shot 46.3% (31-67) from the field, while Thiel had a 31.8% (14-44) field goal percentage. Westminster also shot 37.0% (10-27) from beyond the arc. The Titans bested the Tomcats on the glass, 44-27. Westminster forced 21 turnovers and scored 28 points off of those miscues. The Titans also dished out a season-high 28 assists. Westminster never trailed in the contest.
 
Titan junior Alazia Greaves (West Sunbury, PA / Moniteau) led the way with a game-high 19 points off of a 7-12 mark from the field. Greaves also knocked down a game- and career high five three-pointers in the contest. Titan first-year Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) followed with a career-high 13 points and tied a career-high with eight rebounds. Titan sophomore Magen Polczynski (Irwin, PA / Norwin) finished with 12 points and knocked down a pair of threes. Titan first-year Camden Hergenrother (Salem, OH / Cardinal Mooney) dished out a game- and career high 10 assists.
 
Westminster will be back on the court on Saturday, February 1 when it takes on Waynesburg University at home in a conference matchup at 1:30 p.m.
