NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team remained undefeated on the season following its third-straight shutout on Saturday. The Titans defeated Division II Clarion University at home for their second-straight shutout over a Division II program.
Highlighting the day was senior
Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) winning at no. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0), remaining undefeated at that position. Mason and classmate
Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) also remained unsurpassed at No. 1 doubles as the duo won 8-2. Junior
Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) won in tie-breaking fashion at No. 3 singles, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4. Also winning in extra play were No. 2 doubles partners junior
Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) and sophomore
Sara Small (Beaver, PA / Beaver Area) who won 8-7 (7-3).
Westminster improved to 4-0 overall, while Clarion opened its season at 0-1.
The Titans will open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Thursday, September 12 as they host Waynesburg University at 4 p.m.
