EDINBORO, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team remained undefeated on Wednesday afternoon, dispatching Edinboro University by a final score of 7-0.
The Titans improved to 3-0 on the season, while Edinboro dropped to 0-2.
Seniors
Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) and
Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) claimed victories in No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles, respectively. Mason and Marzouca both teamed up to claim a victory in No. 1 doubles by a score of 6-2. Junior
Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area), the reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Week, earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles, while fellow junior
Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. First-year
Sabrina Slagle and sophomore
Sara Small (Beaver, PA / Beaver Area) snagged the last two singles points for the Titans. Slagle, the reigning PAC Rookie of the Week, won in No. 5 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-0, while Small won her No. 6 singles contest by forfeit.
Westminster will return to the court on Saturday, September 7 when it takes on another Division II opponent, Clarion University at home. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
