NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team shut out the La Roche University Red Hawks at home inside Harold Burry Stadium on Wednesday evening by a score of 3-0.
Westminster improved to 5-2, while La Roche dropped to 3-3 on the season.
After a defensive centered first-half forced both teams to enter the halftime break tied at 1-1, Westminster exploded in the second half with three goals. The first goal came from senior
Kayla Trozzi (Monroeville, PA / Gateway), who darted past the opposing back line after a through ball from sophomore
Reagan Olson (Delaware, OH / Rutherford B. Hayes) in the 59
th minute to give Westminster a 1-0 lead. In the 63
rd minute, Olson notched her second assist of the contest off of a goal by junior
Marissa Grande (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard) to increase the Titan's lead to 2-0. Westminster went on to add an insurance goal in the 79
th minute when senior
Kaelyn Puhalla (Youngstown, OH / Austintown-Fitch) scored off a feed from first-year
Hannah Knoll (Karns City, PA / Karns City) to extend its lead to 3-0.
Sophomore
Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) picked up her second-straight shutout and the ninth of her career. She also tallied three saves.
The Titans out shot La Roche (20-8) and led in corner kicks (5-1).
Westminster will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Wooster, Ohio to take on The College of Wooster. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
