NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team shut out Penn State Altoona in its home opener Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) defeated Penn State's Brayley Lewis, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Marzouca also teamed up with classmate
Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles over the duo of Lewis and Sophia Girol.
Junior
Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) earned a shutout-victory at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-0) over Girol. Serbati and junior
Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles against Victoria Acker and Sierra Snigier.
The Titans improved to 2-0, while the Lions dropped to 0-1.
Westminster is back in action Wednesday, September 4 with a non-conference road match at Division II Edinboro at 5 p.m.
