LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College softball team concluded their season at the 2019 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Softball Championship Tournament on Friday. The third-seeded Titans lost, 4-0, to top-seed Saint Vincent College in the elimination game.
Westminster has now qualified for the PAC Tournament 13 times (four-straight) in the 16 years it has been eligible.
Saint Vincent (28-14) scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Westminster (19-18) threatened in its last at-bat with the bases loaded and the tying run at the plate, but was unable to score. For the game, the Titans left seven runners on base – including four in scoring position.
Sophomore
Haley Bedalota (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell) and first-year
Jasmine Woodings (Verona, PA / Penn Hills) led the Titan offense with two hits each. Sophomore
Ashley Chorney (Indian Trail, NC / Porter Ridge) added a hit for Westminster.
First-year
Madison Brown (Lisbon, OH / East Liverpool) (11-10) pitched four innings, giving up five hits on two runs (one earned) and a walk in the loss. First-year
Krystyna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, PA / Fox Chapel) pitched two innings, allowing three hits on two runs (one earned) and had a strikeout.
Westminster finished the regular season 9-7 in the conference, including sweeping its last three PAC doubleheaders. The Titans also wrap up their 10
th-straight winning season.
