Men’s Lacrosse: Saint Vincent Edges Westminster in PAC Opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's lacrosse team lost, 8-5, at home to Saint Vincent College in their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener on Saturday.

Saint Vincent (3-6, 1-0 PAC) took a 2-0 lead to start the game with 10:43 left in the first. Junior Adrian Culp (Gaithersburg, MD / Quince Orchard) got Westminster (3-5, 0-1 PAC) on the board with a goal, after receiving a pass from freshman Joe Rosa (Newton, NJ / Kittatinny Regional), with 10 minutes left. The Bearcats led 2-1 after one.

The Bearcats scored first in the second quarter, however, the Titans registered two-straight goals to tie the game at three; junior Tyler Nordby (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills) found Rosa for the first goal (9:23) and scored a goal of his own in the final seconds of the half to tie the game right before intermission.

Nordby found junior Adrian Culp (Gaithersburg, MD / Quince Orchard) to start the third quarter (12:29) to put Westminster up for the first time of the game. After both teams traded a goal (sophomore Shane Fisher (Palm Harbor, FL / East Lake) had the Titan score), Saint Vincent scored two-straight to end the third up 6-5. The Bearcats held the Titans scoreless in the fourth, while adding two more to their lead.

Saint Vincent outshot Westminster, 46-37, and held a slight advantage in ground balls, 33-30.

Titan senior goalkeeper Carter Hall (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland West) tied a season-high with 19 saves between the pipes. Hall also tied with junior Dylan Wolford (Apex, NC / Apex) for a game-high four ground balls. Seniors Matt Trella (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area) and Reid Lutz (Pittsburgh, PA / West Allegheny) both had a team-high two caused turnovers.
