NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's tennis team lost a hard-fought match, 5-4, against Geneva College in their home- and Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC)-opener on Wednesday.
Westminster (0-5) won two of the singles, led by sophomore
Miguel Ascencio (Venitia, PA / Peters Township) at no. 1, who earned a shutout (6-0, 6-0), and sophomore
Collin Kelly (McDonald, PA / Canon MacMillan) at no. 5 (6-3, 6-4). The Titans also won two of the doubles as Ascencio teamed up with freshman
Logan Mannhiermer (South Park, PA / South Park) at no. 1 (8-4) and Kelly partnered with freshman
Noah Weiss (South Park, PA / South Park) for an 8-6 win at no. 3. Geneva improved to 5-3 on the season.
The Titans will compete at Baldwin Wallace University in a non-conference match Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m.
