BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team won, 68-65, at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Geneva College Wednesday night.
 
There were six ties in the first 12 minutes of the first half, with the last one coming in favor of Westminster (10-13, 8-6 PAC) who led 19-18 with 8:15 on the clock. The Titans remained in front for the rest of half and led, 38-30, at halftime. In the second half, Geneva (8-14, 5-8 PAC) chipped away at Westminster's lead and went back in front, 52-51, with 9:34 left in the game. Five lead changes ensued with the fifth one coming when the Titans led, 58-57, with 6:15 remaining. The Golden Tornadoes got within two points of Westminster's lead (67-65) with 1:26 left, however, the Titans maintained their lead for the remaining six minutes of the contest.
 
Titan sophomore Isaac Stamatiades (Elkridge, MD / Avalon), who was a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line, led all scorers with a career-high 23 points (7-of-17), to go along with seven rebounds. Stamatiades's 23 points was the second highest by a Titan this season. Senior Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) also scored in double-digits with 12 points. Senior African Grant II (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) and junior Blake Payne (Ashtabula, OH / Jefferson Area) each had nine points. Payne grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, while Grant had six. Sophomore Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) led the Titans in assists with a career-high four. Junior Ricky Roth (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) pocketed a game- and career-high four steals.
 
The Golden Tornadoes outshot the Titans, 43.1% (28-65) to 37.1% (26-70). Westminster held a 44-41 advantage in rebounds.
 
Westminster will host Bethany College Saturday, February 9 on Senior Day with a 3:30 p.m. start time.
