Women’s Basketball: Titans Close Out 2018-19 Season at PAC Quarterfinals

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The sixth-seeded Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 76-40, at third-seed Grove City College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament Quarterfinals Wednesday evening.
 
Westminster had an early 6-5 lead when sophomore Alazia Greaves (West Sunbury, PA / Moniteau) made a layup with 6:14 left in the first quarter. Grove City (16-10) answered with a 15-4 run to take a double-digit, 20-10 lead with 1:41 remaining. The Wolverines led 22-10 at the end of one. Grove City maintained its double-digit lead in the second and led 40-20 at intermission. The Wolverines outscored Westminster 36-20 in the second half.
 
Greaves scored a team-high 10 points, marking the sixth time this season she has scored in double-digits. First-year Magen Polczynski (Irwin, PA / Norwin) scored eight points, to go along with four rebounds (team-high three offensive rebounds), a game-high five assists, and a team-high three steals. Junior Kayla Bennett (Kent, OH / Theodore Roosevelt) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Senior Jackie Mathews (Pittsburgh, PA / OLSH) added five points and five rebounds. Junior Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) tallied a game-high four blocks and three rebounds.
 
Grove City outshot Westminster 39.4% (26-66) to 29.8% (14-47) and outrebounded the Titans, 52-28. The Wolverines scored 29 points off Titan turnovers.
 
The Titans end the 2018-19 season 9-18 overall and 6-10 in the PAC.
