Men’s Soccer: Titans Claim PAC Victory at Chatham

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College men's soccer team defeated their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent, Chatham University, by a score of 4-1 on the road on Tuesday.

Chatham (3-9-3, 0-4-2 PAC) notched the first goal of the contest in the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Westminster (9-5-2, 4-0-2 PAC) rebounded just eight minutes later when junior Nick Iregui (Gig Harbor, WA / Charles Wright Academy) scored off of a touch pass from sophomore Adam Saunders (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside) to knot the game up at 1-1. In the 33rd minute, senior Ahmed Cisse (Germantown, MD / Clarksburg) gave the Titans the lead after he buried a goal in the back of the net to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Titans.

In the second half, Titan senior Peter Mattocks (Saegertown, PA / Saegertown) tallied an insurance goal off of a touch pass from freshman Ivan Mojica (Santa Rosa, CA / Elsie Allen) to extend the Westminster lead to 3-1. In the 82nd minute, Iregui tallied another goal, this time off an assist from Cisse to extend the Titans' lead to 4-1. The last goal marked Iregui's fifth in his last three games. Iregui extended his career goals record to 40 goals (Iregui broke the career goals record on Saturday against Waynesburg).

The Titans bested the Cougars in shots (22-20), while Chatham led in corner kicks (8-5).

Titan senior goalkeeper Ezra Cimino (Brookline, MA / Waldorf) earned 11 saves in the complete-game victory.

Westminster will return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 26 when it takes on Saint Vincent College in a PAC matchup at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
