NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team remained undefeated on the season following its fifth shutout of the season on Wednesday.
Westminster defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany College to jump to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the PAC. Bethany fell to 0-4 and 0-3 in the PAC.
The Titans asserted their dominance on the court, as every Westminster singles player claimed a shutout victory. Seniors
Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) and
Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) both claimed victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, dispatching their opponents by scores both by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Junior
Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) won in No. 3 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-0, while fellow junior
Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) won her match in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. First-year
Sabrina Slagle (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper Saint Clair) and sophomore
Sara Small (Beaver, PA / Beaver Area) each claimed 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Marzouca and Mason also remained undefeated in No. 1 doubles, claiming an 8-1 victory, while Serbati and first-year
Sabrina Slagle scored an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Barton and junior
McKenna Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) won in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
The Titans will be back on the court tomorrow when they travel to Washington and Jefferson College for a conference tilt with the Presidents at 6 p.m.
