NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team defeated their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent, Thiel College, in shutout fashion with a 9-0 victory on Friday.
 
Westminster improved to 12-2 overall and 5-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). Thiel dropped to 6-7 and 2-5 in the PAC.
 
Seniors Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) and Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) both claimed victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, by score of 6-0, 6-0. The senior tandem also paired together to win their No. 1 doubles match by a score of 8-2.  Junior Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) picked up a victory at No. 3 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-0. First-year Sabrina Slagle (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper Saint Clair) scored a victory at No. 4 singles by a score of 6-3, 6-3. Slagle also teamed up with junior McKenna Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) to claim a victory at No. 3 doubles by a score of 8-1. Barton and sophomore Sara Small (Beaver, PA / Beaver Area) also scored a win at No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-1. Small and Robinson also scored victories at No. 5 and No. 6 six singles, respectively, winning by scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1.
 
The Titans will be back on the court on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when they compete in the first round of the PAC Tournament. Match-time is TBA.
