NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team won, 70-67, at home over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington & Jefferson College Wednesday evening.
Washington & Jefferson (8-13, 6-6 PAC) had an 18-10 lead with 11:22 to play in the first half. Westminster (8-13, 6-6 PAC) finished the first half strong as it outscored the Presidents 24-9 and led 34-27 at halftime. The Titans were in front for the first 13 minutes of the second half, including a five-point, 49-44 lead with 8:39 to play. The Presidents battled back and took a 51-50 lead after a 7-1 run. Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) quickly put the Titans back in front with a three on their next possession and Westminster led, 53-51, with 6:16 left. W&J tied the game four times, including the last one at 59. On Westminster's next possession, senior

Lloyd Chatman (Columbus, OH / Reynoldsburg) for the go-ahead three-pointer to put the Titans in front, 62-59 with 1:34 on the clock. Chatman scored eight of Westminster's last 11 points, including three clutch free throws. Washington & Jefferson, down 69-67 with four seconds remaining, had a chance to tie the game as Cameron Seemann went up for a layup, but Grant rejected it. Sophomore
Anthony Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) made it a three-point Titan lead with a free throw with two seconds left and a desperation President three from midcourt was off.
Armwood led the Titans in scoring with 18 points (5-of-12), including three three-pointers. Armwood also added five rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal. Chatman finished with 16 points, including 9-for-10 at the free throw line. Sophomore
Isaac Stamatiades (Elkridge, MD / Avalon) led the Titans on the glass with six rebounds. Stamatiades added a game-high two blocks, to go along with tying a game-high with three steals, tying a team-high with two assists, and seven points.
W&J outshot Westminster, 44.9% (22-49) to 36.9% (24-65). Westminster outrebounded W&J, 40-39. The Titans forced 21 President turnovers, while turning them into 22 points.
The Titans will host Saint Vincent College Saturday, February 2 at 3:30 p.m.
