NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's soccer team fell to #10 Carnegie Mellon University, 4-0, at home in a non-conference contest Monday evening.
Westminster fell to 6-3 on the season, while the Tartans improved to 6-1-1 on the year.
Carnegie Mellon got on the scoreboard early off an own goal by Westminster (1-0). The Titans held the Tartans scoreless for the rest of the first half. At the 55:31 mark of the second half, the Tartans again scored on an own goal by Westminster, taking a 2-0 lead. Carnegie Mellon would score in the 57
th and 70
th minutes to win, 4-0.
First-year Regan Olson (Delaware, OH / Rutherford B. Hayes) led the Titans in shots with two. First-year
Ashley Frank (Mentor, OH / Mentor) and senior
Keely Birsic (North Ridgeville, OH / Elyria Catholic) each totaled one shot, while sophomore
Jocelyn Gillette (Natrona Heights, PA / Highlands) tallied one shot and one shot on goal. First-year goalkeeper
Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) registered seven saves in a complete-game effort.
The Tartans led in shots, 18-5, and corner kicks, 10-2.
Westminster is back in action Wednesday, September 26 at Oberlin College. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
