UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Westminster College baseball team lost, 24-9, at John Carroll University in a nine-inning non-conference game on Wednesday.
 
John Carroll (21-15) started the game with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Blue Streaks tacked on three more in the second and one in the third to take a 12-0 lead after three innings of play.
 
Westminster (14-13) got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with four runs. John Carroll added four more runs in the fifth, five in the sixth, one in the seventh, and two in the eighth. The Titans also had one run in the sixth, three in the seventh, and one in the ninth.
 
For the Titans, junior 
Dante Parente (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk), along with sophomores 
Jaret Johnson (Niles, OH / Niles McKinley), 
Frank Cinicola (Cranberry Township, PA / Seneca Valley), and 
Tyler Barnot (Pittsburgh, PA / Bethel Park) each had two hits. Cinicola and Barnot each had a team-high three RBIs. Cinicola registered a triple, the first of his career.  Junior 
Tyler Zaletel (Perry, OH / Perry) connected on his first career double.
 
Parente dropped to 2-2 on the mound, after going 2.0 innings and giving up 11 runs (six earned) on 11 hits.
 
The Titans will next host Washington & Jefferson College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Saturday, May 5 for Senior Day, starting at 1 p.m.
