Men’s Lacrosse: Hanover Comes Back to Top Titans in ORLC Matchup

HANOVER, Ind. – The Westminster College men's lacrosse team lost, 6-4, to Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) opponent Hanover College on the road Saturday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Tyler Nordby (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills) scored the first goal for either team at the 11:32 mark in the first quarter, giving Westminster (4-4, 2-2 ORLC) an early 1-0 lead. Titan freshman Nick Trella (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area) received a pass from sophomore Adrian Culp (Gaithersburg, MD / Quince Orchard) and scored (2-0) with just under three minutes to play in the first quarter. The Titans would lead by the same score after one. Sophomore Dante Serra (Center Valley, PA / Southern Lehigh) extended the Titan lead, 3-0, with 9:39 left in the second quarter. Hanover (5-6, 5-0 ORLC) scored its first goal of the game when Bret Schell scored with just one minute to go in the quarter. The Titans would take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
 
Hanover would start the third quarter with two-straight goals, tying the game at three. Nordby gave the Titans their lead back (4-3), after scoring at the 5:02 mark in the third. Hanover's Noah King knotted the game back up at four just one minute later, and the Titans and Panthers took a 4-4 game into the fourth quarter. Two and a half minutes into the fourth frame, Hanover scored, for its first lead of the game (5-4). With 4:10 left to play, the Panthers added another goal to lead, 6-4, and would hold off the Titan offense the rest of the way.
 
Nordby tied a career-and-game-high two goals. Serra and junior Reid Lutz (Pittsburgh, PA / West Allegheny) each tied a team-high four groundballs, while junior goalkeeper Carter Hall (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland West) stopped 17 shots in a complete-game effort.
 
Westminster is back in action Wednesday, April 11 at home against conference opponent Saint Vincent College. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m.
