ASHLAND, Ohio – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 87-64, at No. 10 nationally ranked Division II Ashland University Saturday afternoon.
Ashland (11-0) opened the first five minutes of the contest with a 12-6 lead. After trailing 16-8 with 13:34 in the first, Westminster (4-9) cut the Eagles lead to three points (16-13) with just under twelve and a half minutes remaining. Ashland responded with a 12-1 run to lead, 28-14, with 7:46 left in the first half. The Eagles led by as much as 21 points twice in the first, the latest at the 3:10 mark (39-18). Ashland led, 42-26, at halftime. The Eagles held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) and junior
Lloyd Chatman (Columbus, OH / Reynoldsburg) each tied a game-high with 14 points, while sophomore
Kai Skinner (Titusville, PA / Titusville) recorded a career-high eight points. Sophomore
Isaac Stamatiades (Elkridge, MD / Avalon) grabbed a team-best nine rebounds, while sophomore
Blake Payne (Ashtabula, OH / Jefferson Area) and senior
African Grant II (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) tallied eight and seven rebounds, respectively. Chatman pocketed a team-best three steals and went a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.
Ashland outshot Westminster 44.6% (33-74) to 33.8% (22-65). The Eagles also outrebounded the Titans 52-43.
Westminster is back in action Thursday, January 3 at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Saint Vincent College. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m.
