HIRAM, Ohio – The Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 66-59, at Hiram College in non-conference action Thursday evening.

Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) notched her third double-double of the year (12
th of her career) with team-highs in points (17) and rebounds (15), while earning a game-high three blocks. Also scoring in double-figures for the Titans were junior
Kayla Bennett (Kent, OH / Theodore Roosevelt) and senior
Jackie Mathews (Pittsburgh, PA / OLSH) with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Bennett and Mathews also grabbed eight rebounds each. First-year
Magen Polczynski (Irwin, PA / Norwin) dished out a game-high four assists, to go along with four points and three rebounds.
Westminster (4-6) led for the majority of the first quarter and was up 16-11 at the end of one. There were four lead changes in the second quarter with the last one occurring when Fromknecht made a jumper with 3:12 on the clock to put the Titans in front, 24-23. The Titans maintained their lead for the rest of the first half and led 29-27 at halftime. Hiram (7-5) came out of intermission with a 9-0 run and led 36-29 with 6:55 left in the third. The Titans regrouped and outscored the Terriers 16-7 and led 45-43 at the end of three. The Titans led 49-43 to start the fourth. Hiram responded with a 7-0 run to take a 50-49 lead with seven minutes remaining. The Titans regained the lead, 51-50, after a tip-in by Bennett, however, Hiram quickly retook the lead and never looked back as it outscored the Titans 16-8 for the remainder of the contest.
The Titans outshot the Terriers 41.3% (26-63) to 29.6% (21-71) and outrebounded Hiram 50-40.
Westminster will next compete in Otterbein University's Holiday Tourney, starting on Saturday, December 29. The Titans will play Otterbein on Saturday at 3 p.m. and the University of Rochester on Sunday, December 30 at 1 p.m.
