MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams split against non-conference opponent Allegheny College on Saturday afternoon.
The Titan men defeated the Gators, 171-129, and the Titan women fell to Allegheny 176-118. The Westminster men improved to 2-0 on the season, while the women fell to 1-1. The Allegheny women stayed undefeated at 2-0, while the men fell to 0-2.
For the women, junior
Abigail Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch) swam to three individual first-place finishes, as she won the 1000 free (11:39.56), 50 breast (33.39), and the 200 IM (2:20.67). Jones also swam in the women's first-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:54.41) with first-year teammates
Marissa Bowers (Cuyahoga Falls, OH / Cuyahoga Falls),
Megan Routch (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny), and senior

Nicole Stengel (Pittsburgh, PA / Carlynton) finished first in the 50-yard butterfly (27.63) and second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.43). In diving, junior
Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) placed third in the women's 3-meter dive (240.60), while sophomore
Zoe Cable (Brookville, PA / Brookville Area) finished third in the 1-meter dive (223.72).
For the men, the 400 freestyle relay team of freshmen

David Peffer (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside) took first with a time of 3:20.91. Peffer took the top spot in both the 50-yard backstroke and 100-yard backstroke, swimming times of 26.07 and 54.75, respectively. Junior
Clay Murray (St. Thomas, PA / James Buchanan) placed first in the 50-yard butterfly (24.35), and classmate
Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley) finished first in the 50 free (22.45). In diving, sophomore
Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park) took first in both the 1-meter dive (315.52) and 3-meter dive (288.30). Freshman
Austin Shaw (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland) finished second in the 1-meter with a score of 275.62, which qualified as a NCAA Regional qualifying score. Freshman
Patrick Holton (Livonia, MI / Winston Churchill) finished second in the 3-meter (240.00).
Westminster is back in action Saturday, November 10 at home against non-conference opponent Wooster College. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
