SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Westminster College women's basketball team fell to non-conference opponent Nazareth College, 78-54, in day one of the Susquehanna Tipoff Tournament on Saturday evening.
Nazareth is now 1-0 on the season, while Westminster fell to 0-2 on the year.
Sophomore
Brooke Lyczek (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley) recorded a team-best 12 points, including a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Junior
Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) totaled 10 points, tied a team-high five rebounds, and registered a game-high two blocks. Junior
Jackie Mathews (Pittsburgh, PA / OLSH) tallied eight points and three boards. Junior
Francesca Sicari (Erie, PA / McDowell) tied a career-high with a game-high three steals. Junior
Aliya Gage (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) tied a team-best with five rebounds, totaled six points and dished out a team-best three assists.
Nazareth outshot Westminster 47.5% (29-61) to 31.0% (13-42). The Golden Flyers also out rebounded the Titans 37-30.
Westminster will conclude day two of the Susquehanna Tipoff Tournament Sunday, November 18 against Penn College in the consolation game starting at 1 p.m.
