NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team earned second-place at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships.
Grove City College defeated Westminster, 5-1, in the championship match at the Greensburg Racquet Club on Saturday evening.
Junior's
Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) and
Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) earned a victory at number one doubles, 8-6.
Westminster defeated Bethany College, 9-0, in the PAC quarterfinals on Tuesday and earned a 5-3 victory over Washington & Jefferson College in the semifinals on Friday.
This year's championship tournament featured the implementation of a team bracket format for the first time. The PAC had sponsored a flighted championship, with individual players and doubles pairings exclusively seeded and not based on a team's regular season finish, since initially sponsoring a championship event during the 1985-86 academic year.
