Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Washington & Jefferson College, 5-3, on Friday evening.
Westminster improved its overall record to 8-4, while W&J fell to 10-6.
In singles play, junior
Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) won at the number two position, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore
Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) earned a number three singles victory by score of 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. First-year
Sara Small (Beaver, PA / Beaver Area) won, 6-1, 6-1, at the number five spot.
At doubles, Serbati and Small teamed up for an 8-2 victory at the number two spot. Sophomore
Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) and junior
Allyson Gitzen (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) won, 8-3, at number three.
Westminster will face Grove City College in the Championship match at 2 p.m. at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.
*Please note: the PAC Tennis Championships are scheduled to be played outdoors, if possible. In the event of poor weather conditions Friday and/or Saturday, matches will be relocated to the Greensburg Racquet Club (Greensburg, Pa.).
