NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team lost, 3-2, at home to Washington & Jefferson College Saturday for its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss of the season.
The Titans, who snapped a 19-game winning streak, dropped to 23-2 overall and 10-1 in the conference. The Presidents improved to 14-9 overall and 10-2 in the league.
The Presidents took set one, 25-14, however, the Titans tied the match, 1-1, with a 25-16 set two victory. W&J was in front the entire third set and held on for a 25-22 win. The Presidents took their first lead of the fourth set, 20-19. The Titans went back ahead and won, 25-22, forcing a match-deciding fifth set. Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) had a service ace, putting the Titans up, 9-6. Washington & Jefferson answered with a 5-1 run to take its first lead of the frame, 11-10. The Titans kept battling and got within one point of W&J's lead, 14-13, when junior
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) knocked down a kill. The Presidents, however, sealed the set and the match on the next play with a kill of their own (15-13).

Becky Adelman (Mogadore, OH / Waterloo) registered a career-high 13 kills. Sophomore
Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) also earned a career-best in kills with 10. First-year
Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) dished-out a team- and career-high 24 assists, while Daniels added 23. Moore registered a match-high 33 digs, the second highest total of her career. Daniels added a career-high 28 digs. DeGeorge also had 20-plus digs with 23. Senior
Mackensie Garris (Meadville, PA / Saegertown) earned a career-high 13 digs, while sophomore
Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) added a season-high 11 digs. Junior
Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) registered a match-high five blocks, while DeGeorge tied a career-high with four blocks.
The Titans will travel to Grove City College Tuesday, Oct. 16 with a 7 p.m. start time.
