BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team defeated Geneva College, 6-3, on Monday evening.
The win marked the fifth in a row for the Titans. All five of the wins during the streak have gone against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponents. Westminster improved its record to 6-3 (5-0 PAC) while Geneva's record fell to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in PAC play.
Titan senior
Gabriele Eaborn (Coraopolis, PA / West Allegheny) won her number one singles match, 6-0, 7-6. Sophomore
Alex Marzouca (Miami, FL / Immaculate Conception) defeated her number two singles opponent, 6-1, 6-1. Titan first-year players
Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) (No.4) and
Casey Barton (Forest Hills, NY / Dominican Academy) (No.6) won 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively.
The Titan doubles teams won two of three matches. Eaborn and Serbati won their number one doubles match, 8-2, while Marzouca and senior
Patricia Pivaronas (Saxonburg, PA / Knoch) defeated the number two doubles Geneva team, 8-3.
Westminster now sits atop of the PAC standings.
The Titans' next match is against the University of Mount Union at home on Friday, September 29 starting at 3:30 p.m.
