Volleyball: Titans Fall at Thomas More in PAC Showdown

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Westminster College volleyball team lost, 3-0, to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thomas More College on the road Sunday afternoon.

The Titans lost set one, 25-13, set two, 25-17, and set three, 25-20.

Westminster, who snapped a nine-match winning streak, dropped to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in the PAC, while Thomas More improved to 13-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

In the second set, Westminster got within three points of the Saints' lead (16-13) after sophomore Allison Rebich (Erie, PA / Mercyhurst Prep.) earned a kill; junior Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) had the assist. That, however, would be the closest Westminster would get for the remainder of set.

In the third set, the Titans were down 21-13, but orchestrated a 4-0 run to get within four points of Thomas More's lead (21-17), after junior Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) and sophomore Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) shared a block. The Titans were down by four later in the set, 24-20, before the Saints scored the match point.

Farmerie led the Titans with five kills, followed by sophomore Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) (3) and first-year Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) (3). Barker dished-out a team-high seven assists, to go along with a service ace. DeGeorge registered a team-best eight digs, followed by Saxton (5) and senior Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) (5). Junior Shanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Billy C. Ryan) added six aces. Senior Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) totaled a match-high four blocks, while Saxton and Farmerie tallied three and two blocks, respectively.

The Titans are back on the court Wednesday, September 27 for a road PAC match at Washington & Jefferson College at 7 p.m.
