CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Second-seeded Westminster College split its games in the first day of the 2017 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Softball Championship Tournament on Saturday.
The four-team, double-elimination tournament is being held Saturday-Sunday, May 6-7 in Crestview Hills, Kentucky on the campus of Thomas More College.
Titan junior
Emiley Westfall (Jefferson, OH / Perry) scored the tying run in the sixth inning and had the game-winning hit in the seventh in Westminster's 2-1 win over third-seeded Saint Vincent College (18-15) in the first game. The Titans then fell, 1-0, to top-seeded Thomas More (34-8) in the second game.
Against the Bearcats, Saint Vincent took a 1-0 lead after Kelsey Lineberger hit an RBI-double to left center field; Titan sophomore shortstop
Kailey Liverman (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley) prevented a second run on the play with a relay throw to junior catcher

Alexa Owrey (New Castle, PA / Shenango) got on base with a one-out walk. Junior
Hannah Ritter (Front Royal, VA / Skyline) followed with a bunt-single and advanced to second base, while Owrey went to third. Westfall then delivered the walk-off single to right field, bringing home Owrey for the game-winning run. Titan junior pitcher
Jazmyn Rohrer (Purcellville, VA / Woodgrove) only allowed one run on six hits, while striking out nine batters – tying her second-highest this season. Rohrer finished the game retiring 10-straight batters, including striking out the side in the seventh.
Against the Saints, Mary Beth Odom scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly, scoring Alix DeDreu. Rohrer (17-4) only allowed one run on seven hits, while striking out eight. Thomas More outhit Westminster 7-4. Titan senior
Checka Nardone (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) had a team-high two hits. Westminster's closest scoring threat came in the top of the fifth inning when the Titans had runners on second and third with no outs.
Westminster (27-11) will play fourth-seeded Thiel College in the elimination game on Sunday, May 7 at 10 a.m.
