Women’s Lacrosse: Titans Win First Game in School History

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's lacrosse team won its first game in school history after a 19-12 victory over Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) foe Waynesburg University on Monday.
 
Senior Anne Tillie (Fallston, MD / Fallston) and first-year Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) led the Titan offense with seven points each. Tillie registered a team-high seven goals, while Braddock had six goals and an assist. Tillie's seven goals were a personal-best and tied a team-best for the season.
 
Westminster took a 2-0 lead after goals by first-year Romie Schweickert (Hiram, OH / Crestwood) (29:07) and Tillie (25:39). Waynesburg tied the game at 2 with two-straight goals. First-year Josie Banks (Winter Garden, FL / West Orange) put the Titans back in front, 3-2, with 24:18 on the clock. The game was tied three more times in the first half, with the latest coming with 57 seconds remaining (9-9); sophomore Emily D'Amico (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area) (15:35, 11:15), Tillie (18:43, 7:25), Schweickert (13:12), and Braddock (3:15) scored the Titan goals during that span. The game was tied, 9-9, at halftime. In the second half, the Titans scored three-straight goals and led 12-9 with 23:21 to play; Braddock (29:02) and Tillie (25:48, 23:21) netted the goals. Braddock scored the final Titan goal before the lightning delay, while the Yellow Jackets tallied two, and the Titans led 13-11.The Titans then outscored the Yellow Jackets, 6-1. Tillie (13:42), Braddock (11:25, 10:23, 4:10), and D'Amico (9:42) registered the first five goals. Waynesburg scored at the 3:55 mark and Tillie scored the final point with 22 seconds remaining.
 
For the game, Westminster had a 19-14 advantage in draw controls, while Waynesburg led 23-21 in ground balls. Titan senior goalkeeper Jesse Reichard (State College, PA / State College) collected nine saves in a complete-game effort. Reichard also tied a game-high with a team-high four ground balls.
 
The Titans will close out the regular season on Saturday, April 29 when they travel to Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. The ORLC contest will start at 12 p.m.
