LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College women's lacrosse team lost, 17-9, at Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) foe Saint Vincent College in its first game in school history on Wednesday.
First-year
Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) led the Titans with six points, including a team-high five goals and an assist. Senior
Anne Tillie (Fallston, MD / Fallston) added four goals and an assist. Freshman
Cortlynn Douds (Darlington, PA / Blackhawk) also had a goal.
Saint Vincent (4-2, 1-0 ORLC) led 8-0 with 20:39 left in the first half. Westminster (0-1, 0-1 ORLC) scored three-straight goals to cut the Bearcats' lead to 8-3; Braddock (18:43, 16:15) and Tillie (15:12) registered the goals. The Bearcats answered with three-straight goals of their own and led 11-3 with 13:29 left. Braddock netted her third goal of the game at the 13:05 mark, followed by two more goals by Saint Vincent. The Bearcats led 13-4 at halftime. Saint Vincent started the second half with two-straight goals, however, the Titans tallied five-straight to cut Saint Vincent's lead to 15-9 with 3:36 remaining; Tillie (18:15, 3:36), Braddock (14:19, 9:05) and Douds (8:36) scored the goals. The Bearcats scored the final two goals.
The Titans are back on the field Saturday, April 1 against Hanover College at 4 p.m. The match will take place at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky. Westminster will play at Thomas More on Sunday at 11 a.m. The Titans' home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5 versus Washington & Jefferson College at 7:30 p.m.
