ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Westminster College men's lacrosse team lost, 19-6, at Mount Union in a non-conference contest on Thursday.
The Purple Raiders (3-2) scored five goals in the first quarter, four in the second, five in the third, and five in the fourth.
Sophomore
Ryan Shorts (Westlake Village, CA / Oak Park) found classmate
Luke Ostoyic (Kentson, OH / Kenston) for the Titans' first goal in the first quarter (13:40); this was Ostoyic's first collegiate goal. Westminster scored two more goals in the second, courtesy of freshman
Adrian Culp (Gaithersburg, MD / Quince Orchard), his fourth on the season, (14:22) and Shorts (13:02). Freshman Dylan Wolford (Apex, NC / Apex) registered the first goal of his collegiate career in the fourth (14:39); Ostoyic earned the assist. Shorts added two more goals in the fourth (7:34, 5:06) and now has a team-high 10 goals on the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Carter Hall (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland West) earned 12 saves in a complete-game effort. Westminster held a 28-25 advantage in ground balls, led by Titan freshman
Chris Ryczaj (Pittsburgh, PA / Central Catholic) who collected a team-high 11. The Purple Raiders outshot the Titans, 53-35, including 31-20 on goal.
The Titans (1-2) are back on the field Saturday, March 18 with a home game versus Franciscan at 1 p.m.
