DAYTONA, Fla. – The Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 64-52, to Spalding University in its second game of the Daytona Beach Shootout on Wednesday.
Spalding (4-6) started the game with a 7-0 lead with 7:47 left in the first quarter. Westminster (3-7) took its first lead of the game after an 11-3 run, capped off with a layup by junior

Aliya Gage (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) made a three-pointer with 1:15 left. The Titans were up 37-27 at halftime. The Golden Eagles opened the second half with a 14-3 run to take a 41-40 lead with 6:20 to play in the third. Spalding outscored Westminster 9-2 for the remainder of the third quarter and led 50-42. Both teams shot 32.8% from the floor. Westminster outrebounded Spalding, 46-38.
The Titans won, 61-54, over Wheaton College (Mass.) on Tuesday in the first day of their Florida trip.
Westminster will next play at Thomas More College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
