NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 85-56, in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action at home Saturday afternoon.
Westminster improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in PAC play, while W&J fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Presidents took a 10-9 early lead in the first half, but Westminster answered with a 17-3 run, controlling a 26-12 lead with 7:19 remaining in the half. The Titans led by as much as 15 points (34-19) at the 2:41 mark, but W&J ended the half with a 10-2 run, cutting the Westminster halftime lead to seven (36-29). The Presidents reduced the Titans' lead to four (38-34) at the 18:20 mark to start the second half. The Titans responded with a 22-1 run, that lasted six minutes and 28 seconds, and held a 60-35 lead with 11:52 on the clock. Westminster led by 28 points (73-45) at the 7:49 mark and held a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) had a game-high 19 points to go along with four assists. Senior
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) registered a double-double as he had a game-high 12 rebounds, to go along with 11 points. Vrabel also had a game-high three blocks. Senior
Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East), who was recognized before the game for his 1,000-career point milestone that occurred against Youngstown State earlier this season, tallied 10 points, eight rebounds, and dished out a game-high five assists. Sophomore
Cameron Kane-Johnson (Niles, OH / Niles) finished with 14 points and four assists. Freshman
Malique Burton (Cleveland, OH / Holy Name) registered a career-high seven points.
Westminster outshot W&J, 44.6% (33-74) to 34.0% (17-50). The Titans also outrebounded the Presidents, 50-35.
Westminster is back in action Wednesday, December 6 as it goes on the road to non-conference opponent LaRoche College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
