GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Westminster College women's basketball team won, 74-61, at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Saturday afternoon.
 
Westminster (2-6), up 9-7 with 5:31 to play in the first quarter, went on a 16-1 run and led 25-8 at the end of one. The Titans shot 75% (9-of-12) from the floor, including a perfect 3-of-3 behind the three-point arc in the first. In the second quarter, the Titans maintained their double-digit lead, while leading by as much as 21 points four times with the latest coming with 33 seconds left when sophomore 
Aliya Gage (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) made a pair of free throws. Westminster led 46-25 at intermission. The Titans shot 68% (17-of-25) in the first half.
 
Pitt-Greensburg (1-8) opened the second half with a 17-4 run to cut the Titans' lead to 50-42 with 3:56 remaining in the third. Westminster would not let the Bobcats get any closer in the quarter and led 63-49 at the end of three. In the fourth, the Bobcats got within seven points (68-61) of Westminster's lead, however, the Titans outscored them 6-0 for the remainder of the game.
 
Titan sophomore 
Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) scored a career-high 20 points (8-of-11). Gage registered a season-high 14 points, while junior 
Jackie Mathews (Pittsburgh, PA / OLSH) had 12. Gage also tied a game-high with a team-best seven rebounds and tied a career-high with a team-high five assists. Senior 
Paige Quinn (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) tied a season-high with nine points, to go along with a season-best five boards. Senior 
Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) earned seven points. Sophomore 
Kayla Bennett (Kent, OH / Theodore Roosevelt) tallied a career- and game-best two blocks, while senior 
Kristine Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) tied a career-high with a team-high four steals.
 
Westminster outshot Pitt-Greensburg 49% (25-51) to 38.6% (22-57), including 68% (17-25) to 37.5% (9-24) in the first half. For the game, the Titans also outrebounded the Bobcats, 40-22. Westminster made a season-high nine three-pointers, led by Mathews with three.
 
The Titans are back in action next week when they compete in the Daytona Beach Shootout in Florida. Westminster will play Wheaton College (Mass.) on Tuesday, Dec., 19 at 5 p.m. and will face Spalding University (Ky.) on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 3 p.m. Follow live stats
