Football: Titans Fall at #16 Case Western, 41-10

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Westminster College football team lost, 41-10, to No. 16 Case Western Reserve University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Saturday afternoon.
 
The Titans dropped to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the PAC, while the Spartans improved to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
 
Titan senior quarterback Paul Columbo (Boca Raton, FL / West Boca Raton) went 15 of 32 for 200 yards and a score. Senior Dominique McKinley (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg-Salem) rushed for a team-high 74 yards on nine carries. Senior Zaire Williams (Sicklerville, N.J. / Timber Creek) added 61 yards on the ground on eight attempts. Junior Bryson Paulinellie (DuBois, PA / Dubois Area) led all receivers with a season-high five catches for a game- and season-best 71 receiving yards. Junior Bill Madeja (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) led the Titan defense with a career-high 12 tackles. Junior John Fitzgerald (Youngstown, OH / Youngstown East) registered a career-best nine tackles, while junior Miguel Luis (Hollywood, FL / Mater Academy) had eight.
 
The Spartans outgained the Titans in total yards, 442 (204 passing, 238 rushing) to 415 (210 passing, 205 rushing)
 
Case Western scored on its first two possessions of the game, courtesy of two rushing touchdowns by Jacob Burke (from seven and 28 yards out), and led 14-0 with 8:08 remaining in the first quarter. Later in the first quarter, the Titans got on the scoreboard after Columbo found sophomore D'Aundre Johnson (New Kensington, PA / Valley) in the end zone, his second touchdown reception for the season, on 4th-down and goal at the three-yard line, capping off a 7-play, 81-yard drive. The extra point by freshman John Cybak (Massillon, OH / Tuslaw) was good, cutting the Spartans' lead to 14-7 with 1:14 on the clock. Case Western answered on its next possession with Burke's third rushing touchdown of the game, this one from two yards out. The Spartans extended the drive with a fake punt pass for 27 yards on 4th-and-7 on its own 48-yard line. Case Western led 21-7 with 14:32 left in the second quarter. Cybak's 32-yard field goal, on the Titans' ensuing possession, cut the Spartans' lead to 21-10 with 7:52 remaining in the half. Case Western extended its lead to 28-10 on its next possession when Rob Cuda connected with Luke DiFrancesco for a 34-yard touchdown pass with 5:56 on the clock. The teams would go into halftime with Case Western up 28-10. The Spartans added two field goals and Cuda threw his second touchdown pass of the game in the second half.
 
The Titans will conclude their regular season on Saturday, Nov. 11 at home against Geneva College at 1 p.m. for their Senior Day.
