ERIE, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams swept Penn State Behrend on the road in their dual opener on Saturday.
The Titan women's team won, 170-85, while the Titan men's team won, 151-143.
Titan freshman
Connor May (Highlands Ranch, CO / Glacier Park) highlighted the day as he broke two diving schools records. May broke the 1-meter diving mark, previously held by Rich Sentner in 1991 (272.50), with a first-place mark of 293.85. His first-place 3-meter dive of 292.25 broke Todd Knaus's mark of 270.10 previously set in 1988. May's scores can qualify him for NCAA Regionals if he repeats the marks this season.
The Titan women's team won 11 events, not including an exhibition event where Westminster used exhibition swimmers. Sophomore

Nicole Stengel (Pittsburgh, PA / Carlynton), and senior
Megan Douds (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) each earned a pair of victories. Jones won the 200 breaststroke (2:35.81) and the 200 freestyle (2:05.05). Stengel won the 50 freestyle (25.71) and the 100 freestyle (56.79). Douds placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:45.28) and the 100 butterfly (1:04.27). The 200 medley relay, consisting of sophomore

Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) (1-meter dive/210.90) all picked up wins.
The Titan men's team won six events. Junior
Michael Spencer (Clearfield, PA / Clearfield) earned two individual wins and was part of a winning relay team. Spencer won the 50 freestyle (21.98) and the 100 butterfly (54.70). Spencer was also the anchor of the 200 medley relay team that won with a time of 1:40.36. Junior

Thomas Somora (Grove City, PA / Grove City), and junior
Clay Murray (St. Thomas, PA / James Buchanan) completed the foursome. Senior
Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:47.46) and the 100 freestyle (48.03). Sophomore
Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley) added a win at the 200 IM (2:05.66).
Westminster is back in the pool on Saturday, Nov. 4 for a dual meet at Allegheny College at 1 p.m.
