PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team won both matches at Chatham University's tri-match Wednesday evening.
The Titans (21-4, 12-2 PAC), now on a 10-match winning streak, shut out Mount Aloysius College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-17), in the first match and won, 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-17, 25-19), over Chatham in their second match.
Against Mount Aloysius (11-15), sophomore
Megan Steele (Corry, PA / Corry) led the Titan offense with a match-high 11 kills. First-year
Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) and junior
Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) each earned nine kills. The nine for Toporcer marked a career best. Toporcer led the defense with a match-high 17 digs, followed by junior
Molly Parker (North Huntingdon, PA / Norwin) (13) and first-year
Lindsay Snable (Cleveland, OH / Lutheran West) (13). Snable also tied a match-best with three service aces. Toporcer and Parker registered two aces apiece. First-year
Ashley Jackson (Grove City, PA / Grove City) tallied a match- and career-high six blocks, followed by Saxton with three. First-year
Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) tied a match-best with a career-high 15 assists, while junior
Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) had 12.
Against Chatham (14-9, 5-9 PAC), senior
Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) earned a team-high 18 kills, followed by classmate
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) (14) and sophomore
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) (9). Junior
Shanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Billy C. Ryan) registered a team-high 24 assists, to go along with a match-best two aces. First-year
Hannah Santom (Grove City, PA / Grove City) added 21 assists. Dickson led the defense with a match-high 12 digs, followed by junior
Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) (10). Sophomore
Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) set a new career-best with a match-high six blocks.
Westminster is back in action Friday, Oct. 20 at home for a PAC showdown against Thomas More College. The start time is 7 p.m. The Saints are currently first in the conference standings, while the Titans are second.
