MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team won the 2016 Nancy & Harvey Heath Gator Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College, on Saturday.
Westminster won, 6-2, over Grove City College in the first round and won, 7-2, over Baldwin Wallace University in the championship match.
Against Grove City, junior
Gabriele Eaborn (Coraopolis, PA / West Allegheny) won, 6-4, 2-6, 10-7, at number one singles, while senior
Sydney Sterner (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) won number two singles, 7-6, 6-1. Eaborn and Sterner won 8-5 at number one doubles.
Against Baldwin Wallace, Sterner won again at number two singles 6-3, 7-6 (10-2). Eaborn and Sterner also won number one doubles, 8-5.
Westminster (2-0) will next travel to Bethany College on Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m.
