NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team won, 3-1, over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thiel College in its home opener Thursday night.
Westminster (9-9, 3-4 PAC) had a 2-0 lead after winning set one, 25-20, and set two, 25-15. Thiel (6-11, 1-6 PAC) won set three, 25-14. Westminster sealed the victory with a 25-13 set four win.
The first set was tied, 20-20, before Westminster won five-straight points. After being tied, 10-10, in the second set, the Titans went on a 15-5 run for the win. The Tomcats jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the third set and never trailed. The Titans were down 11-10 in the final set, but out-scored the Tomcats 15-2 for the victory.

Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) led the Titan offense with 10 kills, followed by sophomore
Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) (8) and senior
Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) (7). Yoho also had a match-high seven blocks. Senior
Katie Pricener (Wilmerding, PA / Serra Catholic) added four blocks. Sophomore
Marti Liechty (Lolo, MT / Sentinel) dished out a match- and career-high 19 assists, while sophomore
Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) registered 15. Senior
Megan Little (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock) tallied a match- and career-high 27 digs, followed by sophomore
Mackensie Garris (Meadville, PA / Saegertown) (12) and junior
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) (11).
Westminster will next compete in Saint Vincent College's tri-match on Saturday, October 1. The Titans will play Saint Vincent at 1 p.m. and Medaille College at 3 p.m.
