NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team won, 77-53, over Chatham University for its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win of the season at home Saturday.
The Titans improved to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the PAC, while the Cougars fell to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Two Titans registered a double-double. Junior
Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed a game- and career-high 16 rebounds, while classmate
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) tallied 18 points and 14 boards - both season highs. Freshman
Cameron Kane-Johnson (Niles, OH / Niles) added nine points. Senior
Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) and senior
Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) earned six and five rebounds, respectively. Sophomore
Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) dished out a team-high four assists, while Pilarski pocketed a team-best two steals.
Westminster outshot Chatham 45.6% (31-68) to 25.8% (16-62) and outrebounded the Cougars, 57-30.
Tied 21-21 in the first half, Westminster went on a 7-0 run, capped off with a jumper by Pilarski, and led 28-21 with 2:56 on the clock. The Titans maintained their lead and led 30-28 at intermission. Chatham led 33-32 with 18:24 left in the second half, however, Westminster orchestrated a 13-0 run and led 45-33 with 12:53 on the clock. The Titans outscored the Cougars 32-20 for the remainder of the game.
The Titans are back on the court Wednesday, December 7 with a non-conference home game against La Roche College at 7 p.m.
