BETHANY, W. Va. – The Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 68-62, at Bethany College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Monday.
Titan first-year
Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) led all scorers with a career-high 17 points. Senior
Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) (14) and sophomore
Jackie Mathews (Pittsburgh, PA / OLSH) (11) also scored in double-digits. Fromknecht also led Westminster on the glass with eight rebounds, while junior
Kristine Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) had five boards. Durbin and first-year
Aliya Gage (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) dished out a game-high four assists each. Junior
Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) added a game-best three blocks, while Gage pocketed a team-high two steals.
The Titans dropped to 4-6 overall and 0-4 in the PAC, while the Bison improved to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Bethany outshot Westminster 37.3% (19-51) to 35.0% (21-60) and outrebounded the Titans 48-29.
The Bison led 30-26 at halftime. Westminster took a 33-32 lead with 7:54 to play in the third quarter, but it would be its last for the remainder of the game. Bethany had its largest lead of 12 points twice in the fourth quarter. The Titans got within five points of the Bison's lead (61-56) with 3:17 to play, but that would be the closest they would come.
Westminster is back on the court Friday, December 30 with a non-conference game at John Jay College in New York, N.Y. with a 3 p.m. start time.
