Women’s Basketball: Titans Fall at Geneva, 63-54

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Westminster College women's basketball team's attempted comeback, from being down 15 points, fell short in its 63-54 loss to Geneva College on the road in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game Saturday night.

Geneva (7-8, 4-4 PAC) led the entire first half and had its largest lead of 13 when it took a 31-18 lead after a layup by Marissa Heaney with 2:46 on the clock. Westminster (1-14, 1-7 PAC) ended the half with a 6-1 run and the Golden Tornadoes led 32-24 at intermission.

The Golden Tornadoes led by as much at 15 points (39-24) with 5:23 remaining in the third quarter. Westminster, however, mustered a 16-3 run to cut Geneva's lead to 42-40 at the end of three.

The Titans got within one point (42-41) after sophomore Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Conchranton) split a pair of free throws with 9:15 remaining in the fourth. Westminster would get as close as two points of Geneva's lead (50-48) later in the game when sophomore Danielle Dindak (West Homestead, PA / Serra Catholic) made a three-pointer with 5:24 remaining. Westminster would not get any closer and Geneva finished the contest with a 13-6 run.

Sophomore Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) led the Titan offense with 12 points, while Dickson and sophomore Kristine Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) each scored nine points, the total marked a career-high for Dickson. Dickson also tied a career-high with a team-best eight rebounds. Cook and Fromknecht had six and five rebounds, respectively. Dindak earned a team- and career-high four assists.

Westminster will next host Washington & Jefferson College (12-3, 7-1) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
