Men’s Soccer: Titans Crowned 2015 PAC Champions

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - For the fourth time in school history, the fourth-seeded Westminster College men's soccer team won the 2015 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship, after winning 4-2 in a penalty-kick shootout at the second-seeded Geneva College after a 0-0 tie in double overtime.

Westminster also won the PAC Championship in 2008, 2006, and 2002.

In the best-of-five penalty kicks, Westminster went up 3-0 after successful kicks by senior Cody Postupac (Export, PA / Penn Trafford), senior Marcus Gurgiolo (Edinburg, PA / Mohawk), and sophomore Grant Gagnon (Johnstown, PA / Westmont Hilltop) and two diving stops by senior Tyler Little (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock). Gib McCracken kept Geneva alive with a successful attempt, bringing the score to 3-1. After Titan senior Matthew Kiernan's (Venetia, PA / Upper St. Clair) shot hit the crossbar, Zach Lehman of Geneva converted with a score - bringing the score to 3-2. Senior Richard Beaudoin (Adamstown, MD / Tuscarora) sealed the win after a score in the fifth round.

Little competed the whole game and earned one save. Westminster out-shot Geneva (12-4-4) 13 to 8. There were a combined 51 fouls and seven cautions in the contest.

It was the Titans' first trip to the PAC Finals since 2008. Westminster advanced to the Finals after upsetting the No. 2 nationally ranked Thomas More College, 2-1, in the Semifinals on Wednesday. Titan sophomore Zack Walters (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) scored the game-winner with less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation.

With the win, Westminster (11-4-4) receives the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
