Box Score NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team won 3-1 over the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg in a non-conference match Thursday night.
All four goals took place in the second half. Titan sophomore
Zack Walters (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) scored the first goal at the 61:36 mark after receiving a through ball from senior
Marcus Gurgiolo (Edinburg, PA / Mohawk). Gurgiolo extended Westminster's lead to 2-0 four minutes later after he dribbled past the Bobcat defense. Walters earned the assist. Gurgiolo now has a team-leading five goals on the season.
Jake Lauderbaugh of Pitt-Greensburg cut the Titans' lead to 2-1 with a goal in the 79th minute. Steven Alcara earned the assist.
Westminster senior
Justin Jackovic (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell) added insurance with his first collegiate goal of his career at the 86:44 mark. Jackovic headed a tap pass from sophomore
Grant Gagnon (Johnstown, PA / Westmont Hilltop) in the box.
Titan senior goalkeeper
Tyler Little (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock), the Presidents' Athletic Conference Defensive/Goalkeeper Player of the Week, earned his fifth win of the season after a complete-match effort, while earning four saves.
For the game, Westminster out-shot Pitt-Greensburg 26-7.
Westminster improved to 5-2-2 overall, while Pitt-Greensburg dropped to 1-7-1.
The Titans will next play at Thiel College in their PAC opener on Friday with a start time of 8 p.m.
